ABOUT

Chapter Two Kitchen is a fresh take on small plates dining, proudly housed inside the charming Reigate pub, the Blue Anchor.

The name Chapter Two Kitchen marks a meaningful return for our Patron Chef, Stephen Salmon, as the kitchen of the Blue Anchor is where he began his culinary journey as an apprentice.

After years spent refining his craft in restaurants, hotels, and event venues across London and beyond, Stephen has returned to where it all started. This time, he’s joined by experienced Restaurant Manager Nick Shove, and together they’re beginning a new chapter in a familiar setting.

While the Blue Anchor has long been known for its character and community spirit, it hasn’t traditionally been a destination for food. That’s where we come in.
Our bold, seasonal, chef-led menu brings modern, thoughtful dishes to the table, all served in a relaxed and welcoming space.

Our aim is simple: to create memorable food that reflects the warmth, charm, and heritage of this iconic local pub.

Stephen Salmon
Patron Chef, Chapter Two Kitchen

Stephen has spent many years honing his craft in the culinary world. His journey began in Surrey before taking him into the heart of London, where he worked in some of the city’s most respected restaurants, hotels, and event spaces.

From a young age, Stephen had a passion for bringing people together through food, hosting barbecue events at just eighteen. Since then, he has built a reputation for delivering exceptional private dining experiences, from elegant garden parties to beautifully curated canapés.

At Chapter Two Kitchen, Stephen brings his love of bold, seasonal cooking to the table, combining classical techniques with a modern touch.
"Food should never be compromised. It’s what brings people together, family, old friends, new faces, and it’s often what we remember most after a truly special day or evening."

Nick Shove
Restaurant Manager, Chapter Two Kitchen

Originally from Bristol, Nick found his way into hospitality while studying at university in Leicester.
What began as a part-time bar job quickly became a true calling, leading him to manage several busy bars across the city before moving into restaurant service, where he discovered a real passion for creating great guest experiences.
With a natural focus on warmth, detail, and genuine hospitality, Nick brings a calm confidence to the floor, always aiming to make every guest feel relaxed, welcomed, and well looked after.
He made the move to Reigate in January and jumped at the chance to help open a venue that reflects his values: great food, friendly service, and a space people want to return to.

"While what comes out of the kitchen is undoubtedly the main focus of the restaurant experience, it's the hundred small, subtle things that the guests don't notice that really help to make the food shine. As a front of house member, those unseen elements are my job and I want to ensure our guests experience is faultless, every time they visit."
